Quick Addendum to the Molinaro election

In case you've been wondering how the counties within the new CD19 boundary voted, here's a graphic from the NY Times showing how dramatically all counties in the district shifted red in this election vs. 2020.

Moral: run great candidates who know your district, and let them be authentic. Voters are tired (on both sides!) of everyone running on national issues and spouting the national party soundbytes.

I like the Claverackian's viewpoint on the Molinaro win. I haven't seen others' takes discuss the Ryan Special Election and really compare the two elections/districts/candidates in this way. Very useful. I also think the Democratic Party's overreach on redistricting was ridiculous. How could they not think the state amendment to have a bipartisan commission redistrict not come back to bite them? Because the bipartisan commission 'couldn't agree' the state legislators took it upon themselves to redraw and they were blatantly partisan. And, did they not connect the fact that Cuomo had appointed Republican leaning judges? So, they not only threw out the redistricting not too long before the election, throwing candidates, petitions, and all kinds of things into chaos, but…

Changing demographics, a shifting world, new technologies.  How do we preserve what we love about this town and this county?  How do we even talk about it?
